Surface Decontamination with PerfluorAd
Cleaning of PFAS-Contaminated Surfaces and Systems with PerfluorAd
Cleaning PFAS-contaminated surfaces and systems is a complex process that requires precision, proven methodology, and gentle technology to effectively remove PFAS residues without damaging system materials.
Envytech utilizes PerfluorAd®, an advanced, natural, and plant-based cleaning solution specifically developed to remediate systems and surfaces contaminated with PFAS, such as sprinkler systems, tanks, pipelines, and storage vessels.
How Does the Process Work?
1. Preparation and Initial Cleaning
The process begins with the removal of PFAS-containing firefighting foam (AFFF) from the system. A preliminary rinse with water is then performed to eliminate any remaining surface residues and loose particles that could affect the efficiency of the subsequent treatment.
2. Application of PerfluorAd®
PerfluorAd® is a specially formulated solution that is dissolved in tempered water (approximately 35–40°C) and circulated through the system using pumps and spray devices. The product works by binding PFAS molecules on surfaces and in the water. As the solution flows through tanks, hoses, and pipelines, PFAS compounds form flocs that separate from the system.
Surface-Active Properties: PerfluorAd® dissolves and binds PFAS crystals on the internal surfaces of the system, including hard-to-reach areas.
Rinsing Cycles: The treatment is carried out in multiple rinsing cycles to ensure the complete removal of PFAS residues. Typically, up to five cycles are required, depending on the system's size and contamination level.
3. Separation and Treatment of Rinse Water
The used rinse water is collected and treated in a closed system. Through sedimentation and filtration, the bound PFAS compounds are removed from the liquid, minimizing waste generation. The result is purified rinse water and a concentrated waste stream that is managed in accordance with hazardous waste regulations.
Efficiency and Results
The PerfluorAd® technology reduces PFAS concentrations in systems and on surfaces by over 99%, ensuring that the system is free from PFAS residues and ready for use with fluorine-free firefighting foam. This technology has been extensively tested and is successfully used at fire training sites, industrial facilities, and other operations where PFAS contamination is a challenge.
- The treatment is gentle on materials such as HDPE, rubber, coated steel surfaces, and seals.
- The process prevents corrosion and chemical impact on system components.

Verification of Results
To ensure the effectiveness of the decontamination process, water samples are taken both before and after treatment. The analyses include:
- PFAS compounds and precursors: Analyzed using TOP (Total Oxidizable Precursor) to identify degradable compounds that can transform into PFAS.
- Total fluorine content: Measured using TOF (Total Fluorine) for a comprehensive assessment of the treatment's efficiency.
The results are documented in a detailed final report, comparing PFAS levels against applicable guideline values.
With PerfluorAd® and our proven methodology, Envytech offers a safe, efficient, and sustainable solution for eliminating PFAS from systems and surfaces. Our specialists manage the entire process—from planning and execution to documentation and verification. The result is a secure, contamination-free system ready for continued operation, with minimal waste and maximum environmental responsibility.
